About Me

Growing up in the mountains of North Carolina, every third house had a bee hive.  But we kids were always warned to stay away from the hives and not to disturb the bees.  And we were especially warned to stay inside on the days that honey was being collected.

My interest in beekeeping has existed for many years and has only increased in recent years with the news of Colony Collapse Disorder and the disappearance of feral colonies.  The importance of honeybees cannot be overstated.

My husband and I finally decided to take the plunge this year and try our hands at beekeeping.  This is the story of that journey as we kick off.
